The idea of an Action Oriented Center which in the context of meaning is identified as Martina Centre for Sustainable Development (MARTINA CENTRE) developed from a deep sense of social commitment of its key members. After over two decades of studying and some levels of participation in the formation/formulation and implementation of development policies in Nigeria, as medical professionals, academicians, civil servants, development facilitators, political activist, Clergy and private business men, we collectively decided to established an independent social action center.
Both permanent and affiliate staff of MARTINA CENTRE as well as those employed on specific projects, will work among the people to help them identify their needs, work out strategies and mobilize resources, both internal and external, for realizing set objectives. It is expected that MARTINA CENTRE will maintain a close working relationship with academics in tertiary institutions, experts in the field of Sustainable Human Development, The United Nations and its Agencies, National and International Development Agencies, Diplomatic Missions, Governments at National/Sub-National Levels and other Non-governmental Organizations.
